Maybe a better question is why not take a peak at The Muslim Portrayal?

Each day we are consumers of media, but how many times do you stop to really analyze what you are obtaining? Newspapers, magazines, books, television, radio, podcasts, web videos, and many more pieces flood our lives. Sometimes we don't realize the effect they have on us. Is the media building on a stereotype? Does the joke in this cartoon have a deeper understanding?

About the Site
I made this website for my Media in the New Age Project for a World Religions class.

This particular subject was chosen by me due to my interest in Islam. It is hard to deny a strong stereotype in the media regarding Muslim men and women. There religion goes largely misunderstood, and they are constantly being judged against the (wrong)doings of other Muslims (extremists).

For this project I chose news articles from various news sites as well as videos, and cartoons from popular television. I analyzed the media and their portrayal while pointing out the stereotypes and playing devils advocate to their ideas. To top it off I individually interviewed 5 Gustavus Students to find out what others are thinking about the topic.
